David Goggins Challenge Sponsorship
Last weekend we are proud to have sponsored an incredible event raising money for the Neonatal Unit at Barnsley Hospital, as Matthew Tonks took part in the David Goggins Challenge with a twist. Instead of running four miles every four hours for 48 hours, he upped the punishment to FIVE miles every four hours, meaning he ran a gruelling 60 miles in two days!
He was running to raise money for a cause which we've seen in action first-hand, as Matthew's god-daughter Elsie was born pre-maturely and in the weeks that followed the care Elsie received was second-to-none. She is now 18 months old and is a joyful little girl full of laughter, and being able to once again raise money for the Neonatal Unit that helped through the most difficult hours repays just a small amount of thanks everyone close to Elsie feels towards the cause.
Last year Matthew's efforts raised enough money to purchase clothes, nappies, muslin cloths, SnuzCloud sleep aids, and probably the biggest purchase 12 pairs of Zaky HUG gloves. These gloves are bonding hands placed around a baby in an incubator to promote warmth, comfort, and relaxation in babies who aren't yet able to go home with their parents. These gloves are not widely available in all hospitals in the UK so to be able to supply them to the Neonatal Unit in Barnsley is overwhelmingly heart-warming.
His efforts have raised over £2,000 for the second year in a row, and over the two years the total now exceeds £5,000! Congratulations Matthew, another incredible achievement.
The proceeds are administered by Barnsley Hospital Charity (reg. no. 1058037) so if you wish to make a donation you still can, via the hospital's own website - http://www.barnsleyhospitalcharity.co.uk/about/
